Dogs + English

  • Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus (GDV) is a life threatening disorder most commonly seen in large, deep-chested dogs. In its early stage, the stomach fills with gas, causing a simple gastric dilatation or bloat. Sometimes, the condition progresses no further than a bloat.

  • Bloodhounds are gentle and loving, especially with their people, even if they are not exactly paragons of grace and deportment.

  • Loveable, goofy and devoted, Bluetick Coonhounds are always game for a walk, chase or romp.

  • Many owners say that they will never leave their dog in boarding kennels. However, situations may occur in which you are unable to take your dog with you, and boarding kennels may be your best alternative.

  • Weight-conscious people are familiar with BMI (Body Mass Index) as a yardstick to identify ideal weight. There is a way to measure the body condition of our furry friends, too. The pet version of BMI is called BCS (Body Condition Score) which is a quantitative yet subjective method for evaluating body fat.

  • Boerboels are strong and fearless with guardian instincts, but they’re also very playful and affectionate toward their owners.

  • Non-cancerous bone tumors are rare and mainly due to abnormal development. They include bone cysts and single or multiple lumps of bone in abnormal places (exostoses).

  • There are many causes of limping and lameness in young dogs. Most of these are relatively minor and resolve without medical or surgical intervention. However, there are other causes that are more serious and, if not treated promptly, may result in permanent lameness or lead to debilitating arthritis.

  • Bone marrow is the soft material found in the central core of many bones. Bone marrow is vitally important for the production of blood cells, specifically red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. A healthy bone marrow is essential for life.

  • The bone marrow is the soft tissue inside the bones. Before birth, the marrow contains the primary (stem) cells that from all the red and white blood cells. After birth, some types of blood cells, particularly lymphocytes, are made in other parts of the body.
